BIC KIDS Young Artist Award Competition

General Terms & Conditions

 

This competition is organised by Lucre London Limited, (“The Organiser”), on behalf of BIC UK and Ireland, Chaplin House, Widewater Place, Moorhall Road, Harefield UB9 6NS (“BIC”).

The Organiser reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions or cancel this competition at any stage and accepts no liability to the Entrants as a consequence.

 

1. Eligibility

Entry to this competition is open to persons:

  1. who will be aged between 5 and 11 years old at any point during the competition period of  1 July 2019 - 4 August 2019;  
  2. who are full-time residents of the UK and Republic of Ireland, except children or close relatives of any employees of BIC and the Organiser, or any other organisations closely connected with the competition (the “Entrant”).

 

The Organiser will ask all Entrants to provide proof of age, identity and eligibility. An appropriate adult (the child’s parent or legal guardian) will be required to approve the Entry and agree to these Terms and Conditions (including The Organiser and BIC’s use of the submitted drawing as well as its originality) on behalf of the Entrant.

 

The adult providing proof of age, identity and eligibility on behalf of the child should be the child’s parent or legal guardian. Any entry without parental or legal guardianship permission will be disqualified.

 

The Entrant’s parent/legal guardian must provide their contact details as follows: name, email address, postal address and mobile contact number. 

 

If an Entrant fails to comply with a request for proof of identity or proof of parental consent, or provides false or misleading information, the Organiser may at their discretion, disqualify the Entrant from the competition, or, where appropriate allocate the prize to another Entrant.

 

2. Entry

Entry opens on Monday 1 July 2019 at 00:00am and closes on Sunday 4 August 2019 at 23:59pm.

 

Submissions received outside of this timeframe will not be considered so please do not wait until the last minute to upload your entry.

 

The Organiser cannot guarantee continuous, uninterrupted or secure access to the competition website www.BICKIDS.co.uk/YoungArtist and is not responsible for any disruption to the competition or the website due to technical problems or otherwise due to events outside of its reasonable control.

 

 3. How to Enter

Entrants can only enter individually.

 

Entrants must hand draw an original image of their choice and submit this via the BIC KIDS website (www.BICKIDS.co.uk/YoungArtist) in jpeg format.

 

The artwork needs to fulfil the following criteria (the “Entry”):  

 

  • Be drawn on plain, landscape A4 paper
  • Be the original work of the Entrant
  • Not infringe the rights of any other party or contain any trademarked characters or logos
  • Not contain defamatory, obscene, offensive or any other unsuitable material
  • Be suitable to be published and used online by The Organiser and/or BIC for audiences of all ages
  • Show a clear picture incorporating the child’s entire drawing with no shadows visible
  • Not be edited prior to upload
  • Not be drawn using paint or oil pastels

 

Entrants and their parent/legal guardian must give assurances that any Entry submitted is the original work of the child and agrees to indemnify the Organiser and/or BIC against any claim if this is not the case.

 

Entrants must complete all essential fields of the entry form. These include the name, email address, postal address and mobile contact number of a parent or legal guardian, and the name, age and region of the Entrant. Entrants and their parent/legal guardian agree that limited information such as name (first and surname), age, region and town/city may be published in conjunction with any above described use.

 

If an Entrant’s drawing is submitted under a region which does not match the postal address provided, it will be disqualified.

 

Any Entries not following these instructions or meeting the above criteria will be immediately disqualified. The Organiser and BIC reserve the right to disqualify late, misdirected, incomplete, corrupted, lost, illegible or invalid entries.

 

No feedback will be provided to unsuccessful entrants.

 

4.  Judging

Eligible Entries will be judged by a panel of judges chosen by the Organiser who will select one finalist from each of the 13 participating regions (the “Finalists”):

 

  • London
  •  SE England
  •  SW England
  • East of England
  • East Midlands
  • West Midlands
  • Yorkshire and the Humber
  • NE England
  • NW England
  • Scotland
  • Wales
  • Ireland
  • Northern Ireland

 

If no entries are received from any region, a finalist will not be selected from that region.

 

In the event the Organiser receives more Entries than it is possible to judge within the timeframes set out above, the first 2,000 Entries based on date received will be judged.

 

Judges will take the Entrant’s age, creativity, use of colour and drawing/colouring ability into consideration in selecting the 13 Finalists.

 

The Finalists will be contacted on Monday 5 August 2019. At this stage proof of Entrants’ age, identity and eligibility will be requested.

 

Once the Finalists have been selected, they will be contacted to arrange for the artwork to be sent to the Organiser.

 

The Finalists’ parent/legal guardian must agree to post the Finalist’s original drawing by recorded or guaranteed delivery to arrive with the Organiser by Wednesday 7 August 2019. The original Entry must be posted in a hardback envelope and must not be folded or creased. The Organiser will not be liable for any original Entries lost or damaged in the post. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.

 

Entries will be returned by 30 September 2019 via recorded delivery if the Entrant provides a clear name and address.

 

With express parental/legal guardian consent, Finalists will be asked to partake in media interviews and photography requested by the Organiser during the period from 5 August 2019 to 31 December 2020.

 

The Organiser reserves the right to alter the dates detailed above if deemed necessary and accepts no liability as a consequence.

 

5. Voting

The 13 Finalists’ Entries will be subject to a public vote between 23 August 2019 at 00:00 am to 8 September 2019 23:59 pm to decide one overall winner, whose artwork will be displayed on billboards nationwide from 23 September 2019 to 6 October 2019. The winner will be informed on Monday 9th September 2019.

 

Voting will take place via the BIC KIDS website (www.BICKIDS.co.uk/YoungArtist) and voters are only eligible to vote once. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify Entrants found to be in breach of voting rules and/or where the Organiser deems that there have been voting irregularities. The Organiser has the right to substitute an alternative selection method at its absolute discretion.

 

The Organiser reserves the right to alter the dates detailed above if deemed necessary and accepts no liability to the Entrants as a consequence.

 

6. Prizes

Subject to compliance with these terms and conditions, the Finalists selected by the Judges will receive the following prizes:

- A combination of 6 sheet posters and a 48 sheet billboard utilising their artwork (from 26 August 2019 to 8 September 2019)
- A BIC product bundle worth £25, sent by post within two months of 5 August 2019
- A finalist’s certificate

 

Subject to compliance with these terms and conditions, the overall champion will receive the following prizes:

- A combination of 6 sheet posters and a 48 sheet billboard utilising their winning artwork from 23 September 2019 to 6 October 2019.
- An arts, crafts and creative skills party for 5-10 people
- A winner’s certificate

 

No other alternative prizes are available. Prizes cannot be transferred or sold by winners.

 

7. Other

The Organiser’s decision at all stages of this competition is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

 

The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify any entry which breaches any of these Terms and Conditions, or to withhold any element or all of the prize in its entirety if in its opinion entries do not reach the required standard.

 

BIC and the Organiser, its sub-contractors, agencies and/or any other organisation associated with this competition cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any server, Internet access, system or otherwise which may result in any entry being lost or not properly registered or recorded. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.

 

8. Intellectual Property Rights

Entrants retain the copyright in their Entries but grant to the Organiser and BIC a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish (across all media) and post the entry online and on any other platforms not yet envisaged. The license will be valid in the UK and Republic of Ireland and will be deemed to include all the necessary rights and permissions to enable such use by the Organiser (on behalf of BIC) to fulfil the Prizes and to complete the administration for this competition.

 

By submitting a drawing, the Entrant agrees that the Organiser may edit, adapt or make alterations to designs to ensure they are suitable for billboard production such that the end-product fulfils the requirements of the chosen billboard manufacturer.


9. Personal Data

Any personal information communicated to the Organiser by Entrants and their parents/legal guardians will be used solely for the purposes of administering the competition. The Organiser undertakes not to share any personal information with third parties. Personal data provided to the Organiser when entering this competition may be used for contacting the Entrant and their parent/legal guardian in relation to the competition only and will not be associated with any information BIC may have previously collected from the Entrant.

 

The Controller of the Data is BIC and the Processor is the Organiser. BIC and the Organiser hereby undertake to process the data communicated by the Participants in accordance with applicable provisions relative to the processing of personal data.

 

Entrants and their parents/legal guardians  have the right to (i) access their personal data, (ii) require that it be corrected,  updated,  or deleted and (iii) ask the Organiser to send them a copy of their personal data in a format commonly used and machine readable. The Organiser and BIC will consider these requests in accordance with applicable law and may also verify the identity of the Entrants and their parent/legal guardian for the purpose of processing these requests.

 

Entrants who oppose the use of their details for the purpose of this competition will not be eligible to participate.

 

Entrants may exercise their rights free of charge by making a request sent to BICKIDSYoungArtistAward@lucre.co.uk.

 

WHAT TYPE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION IS COLLECTED?

Parents/legal guardians who submit for the Entrants will be asked to provide:

  1. the Entrant’s name, age and region;
  2. Their own name, email address, postal address and mobile contact number.

The legal basis for processing personal data of children is consent; this consent is supplied by the parent/legal guardian with responsibility for the child.

 

HOW WILL THE INFORMATION BE USED?

The Organiser will only use personal data provided for the purposes of administering the competition. The Organiser will delete Entrants’ data once the competition has been fulfilled and all promotional work completed.

 

WILL MY INFORMATION BE SHARED WITH ANYONE ELSE?

We use third party organisations to help run the competition – F+ Agency to build the competition microsite, BIC to host the microsite on its own server, Creative Climate to develop competition graphics, Taylor Made Media to create campaign films and m/SIX to coordinate media distribution - in accordance with our instructions. We also share parents’ and Entrants’ contact details with BIC (see above) for administering competition communications.

 

We may disclose your personal data where the Organiser believes it is compelled to do so by law; in particular for the prevention or detection of crime or the capture or prosecution of offenders.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
